Every street I drive down I notice a time tested phenomenon- evergreen shrubs planted right up against the house! See for yourself next time you go outside. If you live in an urban area, you will see evergreens planted against houses and businesses. I spend plenty of time convincing people to remove these plants. They really don't provide any benefit for wildlife. Sometimes if there is a bird feeder nearby, birds will use them for cover. When these unproductive shrubs are replaced with appropriate native shrubs, birds use them all year, not to mention all the other animals they provide food and cover for during the growing season. In this particular case, the homeowner selected red osier dogwood shrubs not only for their year-round beauty, but for the benefit provided to wildlife. Contact me to replace your unproductive landscape!
