Butterfly weed- perennial of the year

Here is one of my favorite perennials native to central Ohio, and it appears there are others out there who would agree. Why this plant isn't easier to find is a mystery to me. I see it sporadically at large nurseries but never consistently. Local specialty nurseries also have trouble keeping it in stock. As more people look for and demand milkweeds, these should be easier to find in the future. I grow butterfly weed myself because it is hard to find reliable sources. These little seedlings in the picture to the right will be available for sale in April or May. I also have second year butterfly weed in one gallon size available for sale in April. Plant them in full sun away from wet areas for best results. As for it's name- if you plant it they will come!
